Scunthorpe Car Accident
After a car meet, a vehicle smashed into the crowd, injuring several individuals and leaving one person fighting for their life.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 9:10 p.m. on Saturday because there were several cars participating in a meet at the Flixborough Industrial Estate in Scunthorpe.
Visitors to the area this morning reported the following: “It’s quite unpleasant to see because there is blood and debris all over the place. However, given that the tyre markings extend for about 100m, the accident must have been extremely severe.”
According to the police, it’s thought that eleven people have been hurt, with four of them being critically hurt and one being in critical condition. All of them are receiving medical care.
Despite the police leaving the scene this morning, a portion of the estate was roped off last night. To determine what happened, police are now requesting dashcam or mobile phone footage.
Several cars can be seen revving as they move out onto the road in front of the throngs of spectators lined the sidewalks in Snapchat footage from the auto meet.
Video of the accident’s aftermath obtained by the Mirror shows a car skidding across a road and appearing to slide onto a footpath, dispersing a group of people who were standing on the edge of the road.
The car apparently collided head-on and quickly with another vehicle before this.
Other automobiles sat parked on the other side of the road with their lights on, as though waiting their time to parade in front of the spectators.
According to The Mirror, these vehicles were not a part of the accident.
“People being foolish like this has utterly damaged the ‘car scene,'” observed one spectator of the event.
“Scunthorpe is having a terribly sad day today.”
Four of the eleven people hurt in the incident are being treated in hospitals around the region for serious injuries, with one of them still in a critical condition, according to Inspector John Rickells.
We continue to pray for them, their loved ones, and friends. The 17-year-old man who was detained on the spot has been questioned and released.
He is still being looked into for causing serious injuries through reckless driving. The driver of a second vehicle involved in the incident has since been detained, and he or she is being looked into for reckless driving that resulted in significant harm.
