According to an Iowa Division of Felony Investigation news release, police responded to reports of capture in the Maquoketa Caves State Park Campground at about 6:30 a.m. on Friday. According to DCI affiliate director Mitch Mortvedt, police found three people who had been shot to death inside a tent on the campsite.

The autopsy on the three victims will be performed by the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner. After completion, the results may be made available to the general audience.
