The vigil prayer service will take place at St. Lawrence Martyr Church, 1940 S. Prospect Avenue, Redondo Beach, CA 90277, on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. On Thursday, October 19, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., St. Lawrence Martyr Church will host the funeral mass. Following the mass, the burial will take place at Rancho Palos Verdes’ Green Hills Cemetery, which is located at 27501 S. Western Avenue. Following the interment, there will be a celebration of Christiana’s life at the Redondo Beach Historic Library at 309 Esplanade in Veteran’s Park. The family has established a memorial fund in Christiana’s honour in instead of flowers. Michael Duarte is eligible to receive donations.
The family will personally contact those who gave and inform them of the foundation once the memorial fund is finalised.

Speaking of Christina Duarte, she was born in Portugal. She was only 7 years old when she and her mother emigrated to the US. She later relocated to New York, where she worked for over 20 years. The Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers was a group she belonged to.
Over the course of her career, she oversaw the productions of several plays in Santa Fe and New York City, including The Almost Unbelievable Christmas Spectacular at the Greer Garson Theater. At institutions like Brooklyn College, Marymount Manhattan College, Hunter College, Stella Adler Studios, Queens College, and Santa Fe University of Art & Design, Christina has held the position of director of the performing arts department and lectured. She also served as creative director of the renowned Santa Fe Theater, “the oldest continuously operating theatre west of the Mississippi.”
She worked as an acting teacher as well. She has previously given both private and on-set acting training. For the 2019–2020 academic year, she was also given the Brooklyn College Teaching Fellowship. Christina also received her MA from Brooklyn University. She majored in acting at Hunter College before earning her BA degree from Bard College. When she attended the Stella Adler Performing Arts Studio, Grand Lady and a number of other outstanding instructors and artists taught her.
