Walgreens Boots Alliance announced a new roster of senior executives on Friday as new CEO Rose Brewer gathers her team and aims to rejuvenate the brand.

Brewer assumed the leadership role in mid-March. She is the former COO of Starbucks. She took over at a time when the drugstore chain looks for new growth opportunities and tries to stay relevant as more people buy items and fill prescriptions online.

Among its efforts, the company plans to partner with primary care company VillageMD to open doctor’s offices in hundreds of drugstores. It revamped its mobile app and loyalty program. And it added new ways to quickly shop online, like curbside pickup in as little as 30 minutes.

Brewer said new hires will play a key role in this regard.

“They will be instrumental in continuing to build momentum for our business as we innovate more and work to define the future of health and wellness in communities,” he said in a Press release.

Here are the new appointments announced on Friday:

  • Danielle Gray will become Global Chief Legal Officer of Walgreens Boots Alliance. She previously worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, where she was Senior Vice President, General Counsel and General Secretary since 2018. She will report to Brewer and take up her role in mid-September.
  • Tracy Brown has been appointed President and Chief Customer Officer of Retail Products, a newly created position. Since 2018, she has been CEO of the American Diabetes Association. Previously, he was Senior Vice President of Operations and Director of Experience for Walmart and Sam’s Club. She will report to Walgreens President John Standley and will begin her role in early November.
  • Jeff Gruener will become CFO of Walgreens, the US segment of the Walgreens Boots Alliance, on Monday. Previously, he worked at Walmart for 12 years, holding positions such as Senior Vice President of Finance and Strategy and Vice President of Finance for Sam’s Club. In these roles, he helped oversee the financial side of Walmart’s healthcare offerings, which also include in-store pharmacies. He will report to James Kehoe, chief financial officer of Walgreens Boots Alliance.
