Walmart said Thursday it was raising hourly wages by at least $ 1 for more than 565,000 store workers as the retail industry faces a tight labor market during the holiday shopping season.
Walmart US chief executive John Furner said in a memorandum to employees that this was the company’s third salary investment in the past year. Walmart’s median hourly wage in the United States is now $ 16.40, he said.
